Dr. Erbay Demir graduated from Aydın Adnan Menderes University, Faculty of Medicine in 2014. During his medical education, he worked as an intern doctor at the Pediatrics Clinic of the Medical University of Lublin, Poland (2013 – 2014, Fall Semester).

Between 2015 and 2019, he completed his residency training in Otorhinolaryngology at Trakya University, becoming a certified ENT specialist. Following his residency, he served at Bartın State Hospital (2019 – 2021) and later at Koç University Hospital (2022 – 2024).

His main fields of interest include rhinoplasty, otoplasty (prominent ear surgery), botulinum toxin and dermal filler applications, bichectomy, dimpleplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and tympanoplasty.

Dr. Demir has participated in numerous national and international congresses, where he presented both oral and poster presentations. He has further enriched his expertise by attending cadaver dissection courses, aesthetic rhinoplasty fellowship programs, and advanced training in minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.

As a member of the Turkish Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Association and the Turkish Facial Plastic Surgery Association, Dr. Demir continues to combine his scientific background with his clinical and surgical experience, focusing on both functional and aesthetic outcomes for his patients.

A return to social life is usually possible within 7-10 days. It may take 6-12 months for the nose shape to fully settle.

Most patients can return to their normal lives within a few days, and full recovery occurs within 2-3 weeks.

The patient's complaints, expectations and medical history are evaluated and a personalized treatment plan is created.

On the day of your surgery, you will be given watery, soft, and easily digestible foods in the hospital. For the next 14 days, choose foods that are easy to chew. Avoid excessively hard and solid foods (apples, nuts, etc.). Avoid spicy foods for at least three weeks (spicy foods can cause swelling and irritation in the nose and sinuses). Limit your salt intake, as salt retains water, which can exacerbate swelling. During this time, keep fluids lukewarm to cold. After the 10th day, you can consume foods that help reduce swelling, such as green tea and parsley.

You will need two days of bed rest after surgery. You can resume your daily activities at home after the second day. Light walking around the house helps disperse swelling by increasing blood flow. Strenuous athletic activities slow down the healing process. You should wait at least eight weeks before engaging in strenuous physical activities such as tennis, basketball, or football. Avoid activities that increase your blood pressure. Avoid bending your head forward. You can return to work after the seventh day, provided you are not performing a strenuous task. Your doctor will specify the appropriate time for your recovery.

Sleep with at least two pillows for seven days after surgery. Elevating your sleeping position will help reduce swelling more quickly. Stay upright even when not sleeping. Ensure the air in your room is humid. You can use a steamer for this purpose. You can also place containers of water on a radiator or stove.

You can wash your hair and body infrequently, but avoid contact with your nose for 7 days (until the stitches are removed). The water should not be too hot when washing your hair or body. If your cast or nose accidentally gets wet, don't worry; dry them immediately with a hairdryer. You should wait 2 days before brushing your teeth; you can brush carefully after the second day.

A mild fever may occur in the first two days after surgery. If it is not above 38 degrees Celsius, it is considered normal.

Concealer can be used after two days following surgery. Light makeup, almost normal, can be worn after three to four days.

To prevent bruising and swelling, you will begin applying ice immediately after surgery. Two surgical gloves can be filled with ice and placed around the nose. Alternatively, two fingers of the glove can be filled with water and tied. Once the water has frozen, place the fingers on the forehead, facing the sides of the nose (do not place the ice directly on the skin; keep it inside the glove). Continue applying ice regularly for the first three days. Because ice constricts blood vessels, it will reduce swelling. Bruising and swelling, which may not be noticeable after surgery, will increase rapidly on the second day. Don't worry, this is completely normal. Your symptoms will decrease afterward. They will decrease by half in the first week compared to the first few days. Bruising will completely disappear between 14 and 21 days. It may take up to six months for the swelling to completely disappear.
